Teaching Redefined

The last day of our commission. Our seniors completed their work extremely well.  Then they had their viva. At the end of the 3 day session, principal sir arranged payasam for us. After lunch Maya Ma'm conducted our seminar (we took the initiative) starting with English department. In the last hour there was Union inauguration program falls on Wednesday and there was a discussion about different events. In between it started raining.. It rained after a long time.

The second day of commission. It continued till 1' clock and pretty much all the skills. After lunch break Joju Sir took the last two hours, he showed 3 videos related to technology. Then we started our Seminar session.. 1st up was the Merits and Demerits of Social Media.

Our seniors Commission began. Due to the pandemic the schools have not started yet and because of that our seniors are forced to teach us instead of school students. Each of them did an amazing job and took the class brilliantly. After lunch we had a session with Maya Ma'm and she could see from our face that we were all really tired and instead of continuing with her lessons, Ma'm decided to show a power point presentation on Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem. 2 months back she made us write our positive and negative feelings or problems (that we felt we possessed) and today's class was a reply to that survey. She randomly picked a girl among us (not disclosing her name here). Suddenly she started to cry and we were all shocked and got emotional when we learned it's reason. Poor girl had to suffer a lot for her PG project. Her story showed how a teacher should never behave. Last hour, we had a session with Giby Ma'm we played a fun game. We w

Our first two hours were handled by Ancy Ma'm and she taught us another western thinker Maria Montessori. In between, to refresh us, she made Devika from our class to sing a song.  After our break we had a session with Maya Ma'm and she recommended that we keep a to-do-list and to work smart and learn to manage our time.  Next we had a session with Joju Sir and he taught us on improving our Skill of using a Blackboard. In the afternoon period, we had another session with Joju Sir and he continued with his unit. The last two hours were taken by our lovely Arts and Aesthetics teacher Lekshmi.

New week, a new day.. We were all busy with our Induction Report. 1st hour   was handled by Giby Ma'm and she taught us on an interesting theory The umm umm therapy. The next two hours was handled by our Principal sir and he made all induction group leaders to speak about their experience. After that the Oath taking ceremony by the Union members took place. Then there a special programme conducted by Women cell of our college, where a lady officer gave a class on self defence.

Shivaraathri holiday came as a relief or a break between our school induction and back to college life. Friday.. The last day of this week.. 1st hour was handled by Maya Ma'm. She started off with asking us about our induction programme. Then she continued with her portions Educational Psychology. Then came Ancy Ma'm   and she finished Froebel. Next hour we had a Communicative English  session with Maya Ma'm and Joju Sir. They played a video clip about how to develop a good communication skill. We got to listen to a beautiful talk by Dr. Sumitha. Her talk focused on our 2nd skill of Language learning - Speaking Skill Since Meekha Ma'm was on leave we were all free. The last two hours were our Arts Class by Lekshmi Ma'm. She divided us on groups and after a long time I got to sing classical song. She called all singers within us for singing a song. Then we practiced a few classical sounds. 

School Induction :: Day 2 The last day of Induction, we headed to St. John's. After marking our attendance, we headed to our allotted classroom. Next we headed to interact with a few staff members. We got to meet and interact with the school English teachers. They were really supportive. Of the two, one teacher was a product of MTTC.  PTA meeting were going on, thus we left a little early. 

School Induction :: Day 1 We headed first to our college and then to St. John's HSS. We were a group of 15 students (1 absent) and from English optional we were 3 - Priyanka, Sr. Shaiji and I. After meeting the school headmistress Rani Alex and marked our attendance. Then we headed to see the building structure. Since the schools are closed, we couldn't fulfill the original purpose of a school induction.  But the school took the initiative to conduct regular online class and remadial class (offline mode) for the weaker students.  The school is spacious and has only H.S and H.S.S sections.  After meeting everyone and taking pictures we headed to the classroom allotted to us.  Then we had lunch, we had some fun and then started planning to prepare our report. Before leaving the school premises we were again asked to mark our attendance. 

Election and Union formation day.. 1st hour was handled by Giby Ma'm, and as always it was lit.. She called Parvathi to sing a prayer song. Then came Maya Ma'm, she advised us to start preparing our MCQ questions for general paper.  During our optional period, class election was conducted (for Union) and from our class Kavya, Jis and Gayathri got selected. On this day I found how ugly a class groupism can become.  We went for a tea and took pictures with our Bride-to-Be Aparna.  In the next hour, Joju Sir came and mentioned about the deadlines of various assignments and presentations.  After that meeting for section of various Union members for each post were appointed.  Instructions regarding our Induction was given. 

2nd day of our Demo class and our seniors did an excellent job. They introduced a lot of new and innovative teaching skills. After our lunch session, we had a session with our new Librarian, Miss. Renjini who introduced a lot of facilities in our library. She talked about the digital library and the e-resources that we can avail from here. mttc.libsoft.net After that Principal sir came to inform us about our school induction programme which are going to begin by this Tuesday.
